Movie Poster Layout
This is the layout for my movie poster it is a very simple layout because of the research I have done on different horror posters such as: the Strangers, Saw and The Devil Inside they all mainly focus on the main image of the film so this is what I want to incorporate within my movie poster and in the majority of them they either have the main characters and the villain or just the villain.

Prop List: Glenburn
In our film “Glenburn” we will require different props this
is to make the film come to life and be more thrilling and also it will make
the film look more realistic.
The main
prop we will need is a plain white mask (as shown in the image below), this is
the most important prop because it hides the identity of the villain away and
leaves that mystery of who is behind the mask, all three of the villains will
be wearing the same type of mask with different emotions on the mask.
The next prop we require is simple every villain needs a
weapon and in this case we have decided that the perfect weapon for our villain
is a machete, this is to give our film the more sadistic feel to it e.g. Jason
and more gore to the film, we will be borrowing this prop from one of our friends,
and it will be used safely and for filming purposes only.
The next prop is another weapon
for the second villain and this is a simpler but effective weapon this is a
baseball bat, now this is easier to get hold of, we already have a wooden
baseball bat, this is a better weapon because it is easier to manoeuvre and
use.
The third and final prop is
another weapon for the third villain this is another simple weapon but smaller
and easier to hide, it is a knife now this is a good effective weapon because the
villain can move quietly in the darkness and not be heard and then pounce on
their prey and strike quickly with the knife.

Character Profiles
These four friends have grown up with each other all live close to each other came up through primary school together came through high school together they do everything together.
Issac-(Played by Joe Westall)
This character is part of the main group the film will be about, now Issac is the more realistic one in the group he likes to think things through first before jumping into anything so in the group before doing anything stupid he thinks of the consequences of what might happen, Issac is a family person has a big family and enjoys spending time with them all he has; Mum, Dad, two Sisters, Brother and 13 cousins and 14 Aunties and Uncles so he has a big family, he is also a big animal lover with having such a big family the majority of them have pets such as dogs and cats, Issac himself has 3 dogs which he adores. A little bit about Issac he puts every one first instead of himself he is a very kind and caring person he will think of others before himself this is what probably helped him in getting his girlfriend which has been with now for about 3 years he treats every one with respect he never thinks low of others, he is a very sociable person likes to be involved with his mates as much as possible and do loads together go out cause mischief etc.
Teddy-(Played by Liam Rabbette)
Now Teddy is more of the chilled laid back one in the group he just goes with the flow, Teddy doesn't really have a big family he is an only child so he likes to hang out with his mates because he hates being alone his dad left him was he was 5 so his mum has raised him up on his own with out re marrying so he loves going out with his mates, Teddy is a member of a band called flight of the eagle he is the lead guitarist he is really into his music it is his passion, Teddy is very streetwise he knows all the tricks of the trade. He will do whatever his mates do he is not worried about consequences or events that might happen, his main trait within the group is that he is that he has no fear he will do anything and that is seen highly from his friends.
Peter-(Played by Tom Parr)
Peter is the cool character of the group he is the person that in school every one knows who he is and wants to be him, Peter has a small family mum and dad and little sister he is really close to his sister he looks out for her all the time if their is any trouble at school or if she is being bullied he is the first to be their and sort it out, he doesn't like resorting to violence he always sees different way to sort out situations without resorting to violence, he is a person which is always up for a laugh and looks out for his friends however there is another side to Peter were sometimes he likes to be on his own a be a lone wolf and none of his friends question this. Peter is a very logical person he looks at things fro every point before making a decision and can spot a stupid idea from one of his makes and can understand quickly is an idea will work or not.
Luke-(Played by Max Schofield)
Luke is kind of the idiot of the group it starts from the fact that Luke has an average family mum and dad, little sister and a older brother, now he looks up to his older brother as a role model his older brother is mates with every one gets all the girls, an Luke wants to be like him so he tries copy his personality to his failure, Luke is very cocky and sometimes this gets into trouble because he doesn't know when to keep his mouth shout and his friends have pulled him out of some in-tension situations before, he is a loud person and doesn't really care what people think of him, he has a major flaw that he never thinks things through and has no common sense he just jumps into things before thinking and then realizes he has got himself into a mess and its up to his mates to get him out of it, he has abusive banter which can sometimes get out of control and cause arguments between the group but he looks out for his mates, however their is another side to Luke the real side when things start to get tension he acts like he is not scared and he is big and tough but in matter of fact he is petrified of most things but he doesn't let other people see but his friends know this side of him.

Synergy within marketing
Synergy within marketing of a film, synergy is
important for different reasons and they all contribute to the success of the
film, when a film is first coming out they also bring other things to drip feed
information to the potential customer so what they introduce is a film poster
and also a trailer because this gives information to the customer not too much
to ruin the film but not too little but when they introduce a film poster the
majority of the time the images on the poster will have been shown in the
trailer of the film. The posters will be
put out in different public areas sometimes posters are on the electric bus
shelters, they are also included in adverts like if McDonalds is promoting the
film then it is normally mention within the advert posters might be put on big
billboards depending on the film, this is done so that every knows about the
film. Synergy is used by all marketing
teams for films because they want as many people to know about their film as possible
so they make the most profit.
Horror Film Analyse- Mama
After watching the different Horror film trailers that were nominated for the golden trailer awards, I believe that the trailer for the horror film genre Mama was by far the best in the category. I believe the main reason why I believe this was the produces who created this trailer tried to create as much suspense as doing this but by not giving to much away and they have done this by using jump cuts and they have done this successfully, by using low lighting and the majority of the trailer in darkness, this gives the evil feel to the trailer and to the story and sells this as a horror. The music mainly sells this trailer to me because the music is feel deep low and disturbing and gives the edgy feel to it as in you don’t know what’s going to happen next.

Marketing Campaign: Saw
The
genre I have choose for my media product is Horror so the marketing campaign i
choose was the one for one of the most famous films is SAW, SAW has different installments
and each one was marketed in a different way.
Saw 5 has a very controversial
marketing campaign when they introduced SAW 5 they used the viral
marketing technique, they used this to create a tool were if you access the SAW
5 website you can access a tool which allows you to enter your friends name and
also their phone number and also your name, then they will receive a phone call,
for example if I used Joe Westall it would go like;
"Hello, Joe
Westall Do you want to play a game? You think it's over but the games have just
begun. I'm here with your friend Max Schofield. My work will continue in a way
you never saw coming. You won't believe how it ends.
However due the
how realistic it was, people in America who had never heard of SAW started to
call the police because they believed that a child had been kidnapped, due to
the amount of phone calls received the tool on the website had to be taken
down. However this is a great piece of
marketing because of all his news it was spread all over the internet and millions
of people were finding out about SAW 5.

History of Trailers
History of
film trailers
Film Trailers have changed drastically since their creation. One of the earliest trailers known was in
1937 when Snow White was shown which was produced by Walt Disney. You can see from these trailers they are
different from the trailers of today because they mostly rely on text and voice
over. Also they were normally about 3-4
minutes long. Within the trailer it contains
no actual footage from the film and it relied on external content.
Another famous trailer is the 1960 Psycho trailer. The full trial is about 6 minutes long now
this is very different from the trailers of today because they are normally no
longer than 2 minute, this trailer is special because at the end you see the
director of the film giving a tour of the set you will hardly ever see that in
a trailer today, in this trailer no animations or CGI are used.
A modern day trailer like Captain America: The First Avenger in 2013 is completely
different to earlier trailers. This is because
throughout the trailer a different voice over is used, this is due to the fact
it gives the trailer more intensity and power, and with this makes the film
feel more real and life like, however with previous trailers they would use
just a bold voice over with no effect.
Also which is a noticeable change is the speed of the trailer at the
start then changes into different jump cut scenes; also the difference in sound
gives the effect that they are actually in the film.
In 1994 the advancement in trailers
took a step forward when Forrest Gump was created this is because it gained the
ability of creating a setting real such as the scene of the war zone, with this
it also showed that trailer did not need the help of a voice over and also large
text to help it promote itself and it could exploit the new technology and this
then helped the new era of film trailer promotion.

The Goonies: Film Trailer Anyalse
The Goonies (1985)
The Goonies is a film created by Richard Donner and is about a group of Kids on a wild adventure and in the film it shows the different personality's, their life's of their character and them working as a team to find the lost treasure of One eyed Willy.
After watching the Film trailer which goes on for 2:45 i came to the same conclusion as i did for the film Control and that is that this film when compared with Blake Snyders Save the Cat theory falls into the category of film genre Institutionalized this is a film genre is when a group of people come together then the film is based around them as a group when the go on adventures. All they do individually also may come under the film. I believe that this film falls into this category because as you can see throughout the trailer they start of the trailer its all the kids messing around until they stumble onto a trap, and one of the characters Chunk says " Oh no i'm not going on one of your adventures again " this shows this is not the first time they have gone on a wild adventure .
Codes and Conventions
Graphic Captions
These are included in the trailer but they are included both at the start of the trailer and at the end were they list the main characters production team etc.
In this trailer Non-Diegetic music
The music in the trailer helps the viewer get a feel of the film because it is a fast paced music showing that they are always in a hurry it is adventurous music.
Production Company
There are different production company that all worked together:
There is a main voice over in the trailer explaining the characters names and what is going on in the trailer
Editing
The trailer started of slow showing them in the loft finding the map but after that it gets a lot more fast paced with chases through under ground passages climb through caves .
Close ups
There were close ups of all the main characters to show when they are in distress and they need help and example of this is when it goes for a close up on Chunks face when he is shouting " Mikey if you can hear me run, just run." in this close up it shows the distress in chunks face.

Analysing a film trailer - Thursday P5 work
Control (2007)
Control is a 2007 film created by Anton Corbijn and is about Ian Curtis out of Joy Division and it shows about his personnel, professional and romantic life and what contributing to him committing suicide at the age of 23.
After watching the Film trailer which goes on for 1:45 and standard set time for a film trailer i came to the conclusion that this film when compared with Blake Snyders Save the Cat theory that the category of film genre this film falls in is Institutionalized this is a film genre is when a group of people come together then the film is based around them as a group when the go on adventures. All they do individually also may come under the film. Example of this is Grown Ups and The Goonies. I believe it is this genre because as you can see throughout the trailer they start of as a small band called Warsaw and as they start becoming more recognized and famous they change the band name to joy division and it fits in to this genre because the film shows the life of the main band member and the different event which happen in his life.
Codes and Conventions
Graphic Captions
